CITY & HOTEL

Discover Santa Fe, a unique city with a robust history. Honored as one of the world’s most creative cities, Santa Fe has remained rooted in the artistic community for over a century. Established by Don Pedro Peralta circa 1609, the city was settled by Europeans before the Plymouth Colony, establishing Santa Fe as the oldest European community west of the Mississippi.

The LHSA Spring Shoot hotel is the La Fonda, with rooms starting at $149 per night. It is located in downtown Santa Fe, and is the only hotel on the historic Plaza! An example of one of Santa Fe’s 4-Diamond hotels, La Fonda on the Plaza offers three classic New Mexican dining experiences including a one-of-a-kind outdoor cocktail bar. Breathtaking venues showcase views of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, creating an idyllic location for Santa Fe photography.

Click here to make your reservations at La Fonda Hotel 100 E San Francisco St, Santa Fe, NM 87501, (505) 982-5511. Please note the deadline to make a reservation at the special $149 nightly rate is Wednesday, March 21st. After the deadline rooms will subject to availability.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Plan to arrive on Thursday, April 19 in time for a 6 PM informal gathering (not required; location TBA). If you are flying, you have the option of two airports: Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), or the Santa Fe Municipal Airport (SAF).

Flights into Albuquerque are more frequent and may be less expensive, but because Santa Fe is 64 miles north of Albuquerque, you will need to rent a car or arrange for additional transportation.

Getting from the Santa Fe Airport to the La Fonda Hotel

Car rentals are available at the Santa Fe airport. If you choose to use other transportation, you may use a shuttle service or Uber. There are no cab companies in Santa Fe.

Looking forward to this event. I’m a film Leica shooter. I have a film MP. Will I miss some of the value of this experience without a digital camera? So should I consider renting one? Thanks, Peter

HI Peter, thank you for your question. You will, of course, learn through the experiences of shooting and hearing our speakers. Having a film camera, unfortunately, keeps you from having your images critiqued, but there is value in seeing other people’s images evaluated, too. I hope you will still join us. I think either borrowing or renting a digital camera would be a good idea and would enable you to fully participate.
