2018 ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST – Members Only

The 2018 LHSA Photo Contest is sponsored by LHSA – The International Leica Society, 14070 Proton Rd. #100, Dallas, TX 75244 and is open to all members of LHSA in good standing.  

CONTEST RULES

THEME

This year, each member of the LHSA can submit one (1) image in one of two categories as described below. 

Categories:

  • Portrait
  • or Landscape (urban or natural)

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS

Submissions must be sent via email and shall be accepted no later than 11:59 pm CST, Friday, Sept 7, 2018.

JUDGING

Images will be judged by a panel appointed by the LHSA Board of Directors. Winners will be notified by e-mail or telephone prior to the annual meeting on Oct. 4 and will receive a free one-year membership and/or a copy of the book: Oskar Barnack – From the Idea to the Leica.

PRIZES

Prizes will be given in each category.

1st Prize  ($144.95 value)

ENTRY FEE

There is no Entry Fee.

WHO MAY ENTER

  • The contest is open to individuals over the age of 18 and who are current members in good standing of LHSA – The International Leica Society. Images must be the work of the photographer and the property of the photographer.  Any required releases are the responsibility of the photographer.  Officers and Directors of LHSA may submit entries but are not eligible for prizes.  The contest is void where prohibited.

IMAGE and SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS – Please follow closely

  • Images may be in Monochrome or Color
  • One (1) image may be submitted in jpeg format (300 dpi). No larger than 2 megabytes and no larger than 3000 pixels in the longest dimension. 
  • The file name of the submitted image must include the Photographer’s name (and the category you want to enter: Landscape or Portrait)
  • Images should be accompanied by separate Word or pdf document that shall include the following:
    1. Name · address · phone # · e-mail of the entrant
    2. Image data for each image: Title of work, camera model and lens used, aperture and shutter speed and ISO if known.
    3. Additional information regarding the image if desired.
  • Submissions must be sent via e-mail to info@lhsa.org, with “PHOTO CONTEST 2018” in the subject line

WINNING ENTRIES:

  • Winners shall be selected and notified by e-mail or telephone before the Annual Meeting in Wetzlar.
  • Prizes will be mailed to winners.
  • Winning images will be published in the Viewfinder and receive feature recognition on the website.
  • All images submitted images will be available on the LHSA website.

RELEASE

  • By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor (LHSA) and its officers and directors, employees and agents from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest. Furthermore, you represent that you own all rights to the images you submit, and you represent that you are conveying to LHSA, its successors and assigns, permission to publish the images on LHSA websites, social media sites and in LHSA publications, such as “Viewfinder”, to display the images at LHSA meetings, and to use the images for promotional or other purposes related to LHSA. All images submitted will be available for viewing on the LHSA website (www.lhsa.org). All other rights are retained by the photographer.
