President's Message May 2019

It has been a busy time for LHSA. We had a terrific spring shoot in Asheville NC. If you were there you know what I am talking about. Great instruction from our unofficial headmaster David Spielman, inspiring speakers, a visit to the Biltmore estate, and schmoozing with other Leica enthusiasts. More on meetings below.

We are also in the middle of our Notre Dame project. We are going to collect member photos of Notre Dame, and then let the restoration team have them as a reference. We will also take the best 100 and put them in a book to be sold with all net proceeds going to restoration efforts. It costs you nothing and you will be part of something that uses our photography to do good. Click here for more info.
Meetings: we are gaining many new members from the program we partner with Leica under which buyers of new Leica system cameras (and Leica Q’s) are offered a free year of LHSA membership. A fair number of our new members are from outside the US, and we welcome all of them to LHSA. As a way for all of us to meet as many members as possible, we have set up a tentative meeting schedule as follows:
October 18-20, 2019 Boston MA (Annual Meeting)
April or May 2020 Colorado Springs CO (Spring Shoot)
October 2020 Seattle, WA (Annual Meeting)
April or May 2021 Memphis TN (Spring Shoot)
October 2021 Dublin, Ireland (Annual Meeting)
We hope you can join us at one or more of these meetings. As I have noted before, LHSA is not just a website and some emails with electrons passing through the ether. It offers something as quaint and old fashioned as a rangefinder camera: the opportunity to meet other like-minded people and share our Leica journeys. Specifics will follow for upcoming meetings.
